When I purchased the bike early in the spring, I also bought an open face helmet, nicely padded inside. I also purchased a heavy, black leather jacket (I guess it's HD style cause it's got zippers and pockets all over. The open neck area was a pain in colder weather, so I bought a nice, long white silk scarf. I wear retro aviator goggles. My wife says I look like some half-crazed pilot out of the 1920s. As far as the helmet goes, I found it extremely uncomfortable in hot weather here on Long Island, so I dug out my original BUCO 1/2 helmet from 1966, the one I wore on my Yamaha Twin Jet 100 back in the '60s. I spray painted it flat black. It fit's like a glove, and since the law says I have to wear a helmet, it might as well be comfortable. Leather is just too damned hot for summers here, so I got a denim jacket. But I'm looking forward to wearing the leather when the weather turns cooler. Jeans are standard in all weather, as are gloves. As for raingear, if there's a hint of the wet stuff, I don't ride.
Ride safe,
Bob A.
